If youre around Launceston on Tuesday 25 November 2025 and fancy a quick dive into Tasmanias quirky sporting past head to the Queen Victoria Museum at Inveresk on 2 Invermay Road Invermay postcode 7248. There Burcu Keane the Assistant Curator of History at QVMAG will lead a series of three mini floor talks right inside the Alexander 100 exhibition which cheekily calls itself Made in Tasmania played everywhere. Kicking off at 11 am and wrapping by 11.30 am its a freebie so no excuses for missing out on stories about the Alexander Patent Racket Company that somehow turned local ingenuity into global tennis gear.
Burcu will unpack the creativity the community vibe and the bold dreams that kept those rackets swinging for a century all while you wander the exhibition space. Each short session zeros in on a different angle inviting you to uncover the oddball innovations and tales that made Tasmanian sports history a bit less sleepy than you might think. Just register on Eventbrite to snag your spot.
