If you're keen to get up close and personal with the human and animal condition, without actually touching anyone, there's a drawing workshop happening at the Queen Victoria Art Gallery at Royal Park in Launceston. On Tuesday, 14 October 2025, from 10:30 AM to 12:30 PM, you can join "". It's all about diving into the world of Sam Jinks' super realistic sculptures and figuring out how to draw all those fiddly bits like skin texture, age spots, and even the transparency you see in really lifelike art.
Local artist Katie Barron will be there to guide you through using graphite and coloured pencils. It's less about drawing stick figures and more about really observing those minute details of skin and hair, which apparently have an expressive quality. This particular session focuses on 'Skin' and is one part of a three workshop series. It will set you back between about eleven and forty five Aussie dollars, depending on who you are.
