Textile artist Joanna Anglesey is running a laid-back workshop on Saturday, 13 December 2025, from 10:30 am to 2:30 pm, where you'll turn dusty old tennis racquets into embroidered masterpieces. It's all happening at the Queen Victoria Museum at Inveresk, 2 Invermay Road, Invermay, 7248, Australia, which is just a short drive from Launceston.
Kicking off with a stroll through the Alexander 100 exhibition, you'll soak up tales of Tasmania's tennis glory days that put the place on the world map, like a local hero crashing the Wimbledon party. Then get personal with your own racquet, whether it's a family heirloom gathering cobwebs, a bargain from the op-shop, or some other relic wondering why it's not smashing balls anymore. Expect to poke fun at memories, playfulness, and how everyday objects tell wonky stories, all while stitching away. Costs range from $19.63 to $45.44, depending on what you sign up for.
