Launceston artist Daria Andrews leads a hands on pastels workshop that begins with a guided wander through Shapeshifting: The Art of Helen Wright. The exhibition threads together transformation, ecological fragility and feminine symbolism across different media, and those ideas become the starting point for learning the basics of pastels in a relaxed, slightly mischievous atmosphere.

Drawing on Wright's evocative use of pastel colour and floral imagery, you'll be encouraged to invent an "impossible flower" — a bloom assembled from memory, emotion and a bit of artistic play. Expect practical exercises, plenty of smudging, and a focus on curiosity rather than perfection.
