Come along to the Queen Victoria Art Gallery for a chat that promises to be anything but boring. Dr Edith Ziegler, our resident history buff, will dish about her new book, The Worlds and Work of Clarice Beckett. If you're not familiar, Clarice was a key figure in the early Modernist scene, juggling portraiture, still-lifes, and landscapes like a pro. Picture it: a time when art was as confusing as trying to assemble IKEA furniture without instructions. While other artists were in the ring wrestling with all kinds of creative squabbles, Beckett stood firm, painting the beauty of her homeland with a flair that would make anyone's heart skip a beat.
Whether you're an art aficionado or just curious about what the fuss is all about, come and find out why Beckett was such a big deal. It's a free event, so no sneaky fees hidden behind a bush. Just make sure you register on Eventbrite so we know you're coming. Mark your calendar for Sunday, 25 May 2025, from 11:30 AM to 12:30 PM—it's bound to be a morning well spent.
