Encore Theatre Academy is staging its debut production, . It's a musical adaptation of the familiar Disney story in which Belle, a book loving young woman who wants more than village life, finds herself in a mysterious castle with a misunderstood Beast and learns that true beauty is more about character than appearance. The show features songs, dance numbers and some fairly dramatic costuming.

The cast is made up of young performers from Launceston's theatre community, so the performances tend toward energetic and earnest, with the kind of theatrical enthusiasm you get when a local group takes on a big musical.
