The folks from National Archives Australia are swinging by Launceston Library during National Family History Month to give you the inside scoop on how to unearth some unexpected family history from the archives. They will help you figure out the difference between state and national collections and show you the ropes for getting hold of records from the National Archives.
To demonstrate the digging process, they will be using the much loved ABC gardening personality, Peter Cundall, as their very own case study. You will have a chance to delve into immigration papers, military service files, and even those slightly curious surveillance records to see what surprising stories are tucked away in the archives. It will not cost you anything, but you will need to book your spot.
