Been conned or know someone who has been? In 2024 Tasmanians reported losing more than $5,000,000 to scammers, with the state's most vulnerable accounting for over 65 percent of reported losses. Consumer, Building and Occupational Services and Libraries Tasmania are running an information session during Seniors Week 2025 to help people spot the tricks scammers use and learn practical ways to protect themselves without making it a full time job.

The session will cover common scam types, how to recognise warning signs and what to do if you or someone you know has been targeted. The event is free but bookings are essential. When Monday 13 October 2025, 11am to 12pm. Where Launceston Library, 71 Civic Square, Launceston TAS 7250. Bring your questions and any suspicious emails or messages you've been wondering about.
