The Launceston Planetarium is putting on Birth of Planet Earth, a show that spills the beans on our planets bumpy origin story. Earth showed up roughly four and a half billion years ago, and it turns out the galaxy is chockers with similar sized worlds, so we are not exactly one of a kind. The real head scratcher is the Moon, which most boffins figure resulted from a massive cosmic car crash, played out in gritty detail across the planetarium dome.

Its happening on Friday 19 December 2025 from 2:30pm to 3:15pm at the Queen Victoria Museum at Inveresk, 2 Invermay Road, Invermay, 7248. Tickets run to 10.67 dollars for adults and 7.51 for kids.
