Ever wondered what a black hole actually is and how astronomers convince themselves they exist? Think of a region of space so grabby that not even light can get away. The idea was on physicists minds long before we had the evidence, and there really is a massive one parked at the centre of our Milky Way, keeping a low profile.

This Melbourne Planetarium program walks through what black holes are, how they form and the strange ways they bend space and time. It also looks at the tricks we use to find them and imagines what would happen if you drifted in too close, which is not recommended unless you are keen on being stretched into something resembling cosmic spaghetti. The tone is explanatory with a touch of dry humour rather than doom and gloom.
