Part of a programme marking the moment humans first walked on the Moon, this planetarium show takes you through Apollo 11 and the lead-up to the lunar landing. It recalls Neil Armstrong and Edwin 'Buzz' Aldrin stepping onto the lunar surface, an event that took place on 21 July 1969 Australian time, and explains how NASA went from early crewed flights in the 1960s to attempting one of the most audacious missions in history.
The title Capcom Go refers to the Capsule Communicator, the single voice in the mission control centre authorised to speak with the astronauts. The show looks at that role and why having one person as the official mouthpiece mattered, with a bit of wry commentary about the pressure of being the only person who could interrupt an astronaut mid-manoeuvre.
