As part of a programme marking the 50th anniversary of the first footsteps on the Moon, the Launceston Planetarium presents Capcom Go. The show revisits Apollo 11, the 1969 mission that took Neil Armstrong and Edwin 'Buzz' Aldrin onto the lunar surface, with the moonwalk occurring on 21 July 1969 Australian time. Think of it as a comfortable, earthbound stroll through one of history's riskiest and most meticulous engineering feats, minus the lunar dust.

Capcom Go explains how NASA moved from sending the first American into space in the early 1960s to mounting the complex campaign that culminated in the July 1969 landing. The title refers to the Capsule Communicator, or Capcom, who was the only person in mission control authorised to speak directly with the astronauts. In other words, the person who got to do all the talking while everyone else nervously listened.
