Ever wondered what astronomers actually get up to beyond just having a good old squint at the sky. Well, the Launceston Planetarium is putting on a show called Capturing the Cosmos that dives right into it. Apparently, just spotting a zillion stars is only the warm up act; the real brain bender is piecing it all together to figure out what the universe is actually playing at. And as if that wasn't enough, your cosmic journey will be narrated by none other than the legendary Geoffrey Rush, guiding you through all the newfangled astronomy happening right here under our truly magnificent Australian outback skies. Who knows what new secrets of the cosmos we'll unearth.

If you're keen to catch this show, it's happening on Thursday 24 July 2025 from 2:30 PM to 3:15 PM over at the Queen Victoria Museum at Inveresk. You'll find it at 2 Invermay Road, Invermay. For those big kids, a ticket costs $10.67, and for the smaller humans, it's a friendly $7.51. Seems like a pretty good way to spend part of your afternoon pondering the vastness of space, all from the comfort of Launceston.
