So, you know how we've all been happily flicking on lights after sunset for ages, like it's totally normal. Well, turns out it's not quite as natural as we thought. Our bodies, and pretty much every other living thing, have spent millions of years getting used to the whole day and night thing. Messing with that natural rhythm with all our bright lights isn't just a bit annoying for our sleep cycles, it's actually got some serious downsides for us, the environment, and even the economy.

The Dark Side of Light show at the Launceston Planetarium is on to spill the beans on what exactly this "light pollution" thing is all about, and more importantly, what we can actually do to dial it back a bit. Afterwards, they'll even give you a live tour of the current night sky, just in case you've forgotten what a truly dark sky looks like. It's happening at the Queen Victoria Museum at Inveresk on Saturday, 26 July 2025, from 11:30 AM to 12:15 PM. Tickets are $10.67 for adults and $7.51 for children.
