The Sun is the only star we can inspect from relatively close range, and getting to know it helps astronomers understand the rest of the stellar neighbourhood. This programme explains how our star works in straightforward terms, with striking graphics that show how the Sun generates energy and how astronomers tease out its secrets by observing it in different wavelengths. Think of it as a backstage pass to a very hot celebrity, minus the autograph line.

Produced by the European Southern Observatory, the show had its debut at the International Planetarium Society conference in France in July 2018 and has been making the rounds since. It's informative with a dash of cheek, so you'll leave with a clearer idea of solar storms, sunspots and why the Sun occasionally throws a tantrum.
