Methyl Ethel is an indie art rock band hailing from the sunny shores of Perth, and no, it's not a new type of Aussie cocktail. Picture this: Jake Webb, the genius behind the curtain, usually working solo in the studio, spins his magic and then gathers his trusty crew for live shows. You'll find Thom Stewart on bass, Chris Wright on drums, and together they create a sound that's like a jangle of dream dreams — dreamy enough to make you wonder if you should be firing up your imagination or just vibing with the music. And if you think he's new to the game, you obviously missed his previous stint leading Sugarpuss, where he was stirring up tunes before most of us could tell the difference between a guitar and a ukulele.

On Thursday, June 12, 2025 at 8:00pm, they'll be gracing the stage at the Princess Theatre in Launceston. Just think of it as a musical journey that might leave you feeling a bit fuzzy and whimsical, like a daydream you don't want to wake up from. Tickets will cost you $59 plus a modest booking fee, and if you're a procrastinator, the door price is a cheeky $60, subject to whatever fate decides is left at that hour. So grab your mates, or go solo if you're feeling brave, and prepare for a night of jangly tunes and dreamy vibes.
