If youre up for a bit of theatre served via the big screen, theres a screening of Bernard Shaws Mrs Warrens Profession coming to Launceston. Its one of those filmed-from-the-stage deals straight from the UK, capturing all the drama without the jet lag. Picture this: five-time Olivier winner Imelda Staunton, fresh off her Crown duties, teaming up with her actual daughter Bessie Carter from Bridgerton, tackling the roles of prickly mother and daughter for the first time. Family reunions on stage can get awkward, right?

The story digs into Vivie Warren, whos basically a forward-thinking rebel in a stuffy world, clashing with her mum whos made a killing by playing the old boys club game to her advantage. But fortunes like that dont come cheap, and Shaws poking fun at the moral mess it all creates. Tickets start from fifteen bucks for full-time students, up to thirty-eight for premium with a drink thrown in on arrival, or concessions at twenty-five fifty and full price at twenty-nine fifty. It kicks off at two pm on Sunday 2 November 2025, at the Earl Arts Centre on 10 Earl Street in Launceston.
