Possum skin cloaks are a continuing tradition to many Aboriginal families and are often inscribed with personal and family stories.
As part of a previous public program series for the touring exhibition Wrapped in Culture in 2021, Vicki West taught us how to pyrograph our stories onto a diamond-shaped possum patch, before sewing them into a small cloak.
This year we invite you to add your story to the communal cloak.
Join one or more workshops to contribute to the growth of the cloak with new patches, with the end result exhibited in the foyer of the Museum at Inveresk for NAIDOC week 2023.
Join us on Saturday 1 July at the Museum as we host a morning tea to celebrate the wider community's stories shared on the cloak.
Free event but bookings required.
When: Saturday, 01 July 2023, 10:30 AM - 12:00 PM
Where: Museum at Inveresk, 2 Invermay Road, Launceston, 7250 Australia
