Get ready to contribute a slice of your story to the community creation known as the Possum Skin Cloak. This ain't just a fancy garment—it's an ongoing tradition for many Aboriginal communities, where each cloak tells tales of personal history and family sagas, like family reunions but on a skin square.
In this hands-on workshop, you'll take a pyrography tool and channel your inner artist by burning your own design, symbol, or narrative onto a square of possum skin. Trust me, it's way cooler than doodling on a napkin. Once the squares are adorned with your creativity, they'll be sewn onto the cloak during the final workshop. The grand reveal comes during our NAIDOC Week morning tea on Sunday, July 6, where you can proudly say, "That's my story stitched right into that fantastic piece." It's going to be a morning worth sharing over a cuppa.
