If youre around Launceston or can make the drive on Sunday 7 December 2025, theres a laidback cinematic screening of theatre at the Earl Arts Centre on 10 Earl St. Its basically the best bits from Britains lively stages, captured live and shown on the big screen, so you get that theatre vibe without the hassle of crossing oceans. Picture Olivier Award winner Jack Lowden from Slow Horses and Dunkirk teaming up with Emmy and BAFTA guy Martin Freeman of The Hobbit and The Responder fame in David Irelands new play thats got critics chuckling at its cheeky twists.

Theyre calling it The Fifth Step, and its starting at 2pm sharp. Tickets go for premium with a drink on arrival at $38, full price $29.50, concession $25.50, or a steal for fulltime students at $15. Just turn up if you fancy a bit of subversively funny drama without the pretension.
