If your family gatherings are starting to feel a bit tense, you might find it comforting to watch someone else's drama unfold on stage. Enough by Gabrielle Adkins is about Kate, who is deeply in love with her husband Steve. He is charming, intelligent, and a bit unpredictable. Her mother Bess keeps urging her to do something about it, while her daughter Billie watches quietly and learns all the silent habits. Over the course of one night and a lot of memory, the family dances around the tricky space between love and keeping someone in check, between feeling safe and wanting more, between staying and leaving. They are all tied together with threads that can be tender or a bit too tight.
The show is directed by Bindy Stephens and has original piano music by Travis Hennessy, which should help set the mood for all that family soul searching. If you want to check it out, it is on at the Albert Hall in Launceston, from the evening of Thursday the 20th of August to Saturday the 22nd, all at half past seven. Tickets range from fifty five dollars for a full price spot, down to forty seven for concession, thirty if you are thirty or under, and only twenty three for full time students or kids under sixteen. So you can pick your price based on how much family angst you can afford to witness.
