Come and resurrect some ancient critters with Dr Russell Bicknell at the Museum at Inveresk. This is your chance to get up close with trilobites, those weird and wonderful sea creatures that were roaming the oceans long before dinosaurs were even a twinkle in evolution's eye. Using 3D printed bits and pieces, you can build your own fossil models and get a feel for how scientists piece together prehistoric life. It is part hands-on fun, part engineering puzzle, and a whole lot of wondering what on earth these things were thinking.

The whole thing runs on Thursday, 16 July 2026 from 1.30 pm to 3.00 pm at the Queen Victoria Museum at Inveresk, 2 Invermay Road, Invermay. It will set you back $7.51, which is an oddly specific amount but probably not a coincidence. Bring your curiosity and maybe a steady hand. No need to bring a trilobite, they are provided.
