Tue 21 Jul 2026

Ever wondered if a cockroach could outrun you or if a beetle could bench press a small car? Probably not, but at the Museum at Inveresk on Tuesday 21 July 2026, they will let you in on the secrets of Earth's tiniest superheroes. For just over seven bucks and an hour of your morning, you can explore how bugs pull off superspeed, super strength, camouflage, and even glowing tricks. Then you get to build your own super bug to take home, which is basically a souvenir that might one day save humanity from an avalanche of crumbs.

The whole thing runs from 10.30 to 11.30 am at Queen Victoria Museum at Inveresk, 2 Invermay Road, Invermay. The cost is $7.51, which is oddly specific but probably covers the glue and googly eyes. No need to suit up. Just show up, learn, and maybe feel a little less inclined to squish the next ant you see.
