Ever wondered what you'd look like if you were part wombat, part ancient artefact, and part the weird doodle you drew in maths class? This is your chance to find out. On Friday 17 July 2026, from 11 am to 2 pm, artist and arts therapist Melissa "Moo" Lubke is running a workshop at the Queen Victoria Museum at Inveresk where you can wander the museum, pick out the bits of Tasmanian animals, people, stories, and objects that speak to you, and then mash them all up into a hybrid creature of your own. You'll present your creation in a little zine to share with the local QVMAG community, so be prepared to explain why your character has a platypus bill, a convict's hat, and the personality of a cupboard.
The workshop costs $16.99 and is open to teens, so if you're in or near Launceston and feel like doing something creative that doesn't involve staring at a screen, this might be your thing. No need to be an artist, just bring a sense of curiosity and maybe a willingness to laugh at your own hybrid monster. The museum is at 2 Invermay Road, Invermay, so you can probably drive there without getting lost unless you're part dunnart with no sense of direction.
